Woodburn earns 3rd Top-10 of Fall; Harris’ final round leads to T-15 finish

Final Results

WESTLAKE, Ohio – Marshall sophomore Jackson Woodburn earned the third top-10 finish of his Fall 2026 season on Tuesday at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational at Lakewood Country Club in Westlake, Ohio.

Woodburn finished T-6 after a 1-over par 72 in the final round that left him at 1-over for the tournament as well.

"This was a really good week for the team," Marshall Men's Golf coach Matt Grobe said. "We were down a man this week and that put all the pressure on our guys in the team portion. They fought hard and played some really good golf this week. Jackson Woodburn has had an incredible start to our season."

Woodburn finished the week with 10 birdies – five of which came during his opening round 68 (-3) which was tops among all competitors in the first round.

The Herd's sophomore leader finished strong on Tuesday as well, finishing at 3-under on his last 13 holes to get back to 1-over for the tournament after a tough start to the round on Tuesday.

Freshman Jackson Harris improved over each of the three rounds of the tournament to finish T-15 at 4-over for the week.

Harris' best play came on the final day of action as he carded three birdies in his first six holes before later closing with a birdie on his final hole en route to a 1-under 70 for his final round.

Woodburn and Harris led a Herd contingent who was playing without Cael Ropietski, who scratched prior to the tournament's start, leaving the Herd with four team members for four positions, meaning all scores counted.

Every one of the four positions had a round-under-par in the tournament, which Grobe was pleased with. Wes Lorish and Tanner Vest each finished 1-under in the second round.

"Jackson Harris is playing really well as a freshman and Tanner Vest has been solid for us," Grobe said. "Wes (Lorish) is making a ton of birdies and contributing on a weekly basis."

The Herd also had four individuals make the trip to Lakewood Country Club to compete, giving some vital experience in a tournament setting.

Sammy Shy finished tops among the individual competitors for the Herd, carding a 1-over 72 in the second round as his best 18.

Marshall now has a break before heading to Dayton to compete in the Dayton Flyer Intercollegiate on Oct. 19-20.
