Herd freshman goes low for 2nd straight round in weather-delayed Stroke Play
MADISON, Miss. – Marshall freshman Jack Minutoli shot a 3-under par 69 in the final round of Stroke Play at the 2026 Sun Belt Men's Golf Championship.
The strong final round came over the course of two days as a weather delay and darkness pushed Wednesday's final round of stroke play into completion on Thursday morning.
Undaunted, Minutoli had four birdies in a six-hole stretch when play resumed before closing out with six straight pars in an impressive end to his first-ever SBC Championship.
Minutoli's 3-under 69 came after he fired a 2-under 70 in the second round, making him one of only 14 competitors in the 2026 SBC Championship field to finish with multiple rounds under par.
In addition to Minutoli's performance, redshirt freshman Cael Ropietski had a team-high six birdies in his final round to finish at 1-over 73 on the day – his best round of the tournament.
After coming in as a substitute, Herd redshirt freshman Jackson Woodburn also finished in the top-10 in scoring average on par-3s, going 1-over on par-3s over the final two rounds.
The tournament brought an end to the career of Marshall's Clayton Thomas, who finished with his second 3-over 75 of the tournament. Thomas had four birdies in his final round – three of which came on the course's four par-5s.
Thomas and Cameron Jarvis are the graduating seniors for the 2025-26 Marshall Men's Golf team.
