Women Soccer Ties Ball State 0-0

10/8/2001

The Marshall University women?s soccer team fought hard against Ball State University, but in the end neither team could put the ball in the back of the net. After 90 minutes of regulation play and 30 minutes of overtime the match ended in a scoreless deadlock.
Marshall (5-4-1, 2-2-1) had several great scoring opportunities in the latter portion of the match, but just could not capitalize. Marshall goal keeper Ashleigh Woods (Penfield, NY) had 5 saves on the match, including two spectacular diving saves in the open field.
?Our kids fought hard and I am proud of them,? head coach Teresa Patterson said. ?Luck is going to come our way.?
The Thundering Herd outshot Ball State (8-2-1, 2-2-1) 18-9. The Cardinals held the advantage in corner kicks 5-4.
Marshall will play next on the road against Central Michigan Sunday, Oct. 7, at 1:00 p.m.
