Men's Golf 16th After First Round of Adams Cup

NEWPORT, R.I. - Marshall University's men's golf team is currently 16th after the first round of the ninth annual Adams Cup of Newport at the Newport National Golf Club.
Although there were 36 holes scheduled for Tuesday, the second round was not completed due to darkness and was stopped at 6:30 p.m. with most players having two or three holes remaining. The remaining holes will be completed at Newport National on Wednesday morning at 7:00 a.m. with the final 18 holes taking place at the Newport Country Club.
Virginia Tech leads the field after one round with a team score of 293 while Georgia State junior Kasper Jorgenson is the low individual at four-under 68 for the par-72 6903 yard course.
Marshall's Brad Tweel, Derek Hurwitch, and Drew Whitten all fired 78's in the first round and stand tied for 47th. The Herd's Ben Minyard and Ryan Stewart shot an 81 and 84, respectively.
