Walenga Named Interim Volleyball Coach

HUNTINGTON, WV -- Marshall University Director of Athletics Lance West announced today that Tim Walenga has been given the title of interim head coach for the Marshall Volleyball program.
Walenga will serve as interim head coach until a national search can be conducted to name a replacement for Steffi Legall. The Herd?s former head coach resigned late last week to accept a coaching position at another university.
?We are confident that Tim will keep the program headed in the right direction while we go through the process of searching for a new head coach,? West said. ?We hope to have a search committe in place very soon in order to fill this position with the best person available.?
Walenga is a 1995 graduate of Illinois State University and joined the Marshall program in March of 2001.
Legall served as the Herd?s head coach for the last five seasons, taking over the program in time for the move from the Southern Conference to the Mid-American Conference. She posted an overall record of 57-95 in five years, including a 32-57 mark in MAC play.
The team will return most of it?s players this fall, having lost only one senior to graduation.
