Herd volleyball senior chosen to selective three-day experience in Indianapolis

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Volleyball's Elli Barry is currently in Indianapolis taking part in the NCAA Career in Sports Forum, which runs from May 27-30 at the NCAA Headquarters in Indianapolis, Ind.

Barry, a Huntington native who has been with the Herd for four years, was one of approximately 200 student-athletes from across the country chosen for the highly-selective NCAA program geared toward student-athletes who are looking to make a career in sports following their playing days.

The three-day experience is designed to assist participants in charting their professional paths while offering them a signature networking opportunity with individuals at the campus, conference and national level within intercollegiate athletics.

The keynote speakers at the event discuss a broad range of aspects with the student-athletes to help attendees prepare for the pathway to success in their professional careers within athletics.

These discussions touch on everything from personal branding and practical approaches in the job search, developing a career plan and the impact of self-awareness and managing themselves as a professional within the sports industry.

At the end of the panel, the student-athletes will have taken part in interactive tangible experiences that help them identify their own personal strengths and weaknesses, which will help them navigate the pathway within sports that is best for them. This insight gives them a definitive advantage as they prepare for the sports workforce following their playing days.

This select annual forum offered by the NCAA is open to nominated NCAA student-athletes in their third, fourth, fifth or graduate years of eligibility who have competed in an NCAA-sponsored sport during the current academic year.

This past season, Barry was a key figure for Marshall Volleyball's success, registering 162 kills for the Herd while placing third in blocks with 41.
