Golf Team Finishes Sixth at Big Red Classic

OCALA, Fla. - Senior Brian Perry, a native of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., recorded a one under par three round total of 215, finishing tied for third, to help Marshall University to a sixth place team finish in the 16-team Big Red Classic at the Lake Diamond Golf & Country Club in Ocala, Fla. this weekend.

Perry shot rounds of 73 and 72 on Saturday and added a final round of 70 to lead the Thundering Herd. Marshall?s Aaron Williams finished tied for 17th with a 224 (72-74-78). The Thundering Herd?s other finishes and scores were: Burke Spensky (T-35th, 76-74-77=227), Steve Sisson (T-42nd, 77-76-77=230), Drew Whitten (T-47th, 77-75-80=232), and Ryan Stewart (T-80th, 77-75-88=240).

Lamar University won the event with a two under par total of 862 on the Par 72, 6,625-yard course. Michigan State placed second at 865, followed by Bowling Green (875), Penn State (880), Xavier (890), and Marshall (895).

Xavier?s Miles Maillet won individual medalist honors with rounds of 70-72-68 for a tournament low score of 210. Lamar?s Chris Stroud placed second at 213, while John Koskinen of Michigan State tied for third with Marshall?s Brian Perry at 215.
