HUNTINGTON, W.Va.--The Marshall University women?s soccer team fell 3-0 to the #25 ranked Mountaineers of West Virginia University Saturday at Sam Hood Field.

?We?re moving forward and that?s what we need to do right now,? head coach Teresa Patterson said. ?Our composure with the ball improved as the game went on and now we just have to build on that and get ready for Mississippi.?

The Herd was out shot 18 to three in the contest and also had 21 fouls. Nearly every player on the Marshall roster was able to gain game experience. Freshman goal keeper Sarah Barber racked up six saves and sophomore Ashleigh Woods had seven saves in goal.

Marshall will kick off the regular season as they travel to Oxford, Mississippi to take part in the Ole Miss Classic. The Herd will square off against Ole Miss on Friday, August, 30th at 7:00 p.m. and will take on the University of Southern Mississippi on September, 1st at 10:30 a.m.
