Men's Soccer Defeats Under-20 Bahaman National Team

Nassau, Bahamas-The Marshall University men?s soccer team used three second half goals to cruise past the Under-20 Bahaman National Team 4-0 in an exhibition match today. Marshall defeated the same team 3-0 earlier in the week.
?It was a good way to end the week-long trip,? head coach Bob Gray said. ?The whole week has been a good experience for our team on and off the field. I think the trip has helped prepare us for the start of training and the start of the season?
The Thundering Herd grabbed the lead for good when Byron Carmichael scored from six feet out in the 35th minute to give MU a 1-0 lead.
After taking a 1-0 lead into halftime, Marshall put the game away for good in the early stages of the second half. In the 53rd minute, Carmichael sent a cross that was deflected by a Bahamian player into the net for an own goal, giving the Thundering Herd a 2-0 lead.
Freshman Jared Dombrowski followed with another MU goal after he put a cross from junior Jamie Karr into the back of the net for a 3-0 lead.
Senior David Spaulding finished the scoring when he scored on a blast from the top of the penalty box in the 77th minute to give Marshall a 4-0 victory.
Goaltenders Matt Salmon and Jeremy Williams combined on their second consecutive shutout.
Marshall out shot the Bohemian team 21-5 on the day.
Marshall will return home tomorrow and all players will report for practice on Tuesday, August 13. Marshall opens the season on August 30 when they face the University of Nevada-Las Vegas in the UNLV Classic.
