Sheena Caron Finishes Fifth at Lady Highlander Invitational

DRAPER, Va. - Freshman Sheena Caron shot a one-over par 73 Tuesday to finish in a tie for fifth place and lead the freshman-laden Thundering Herd women?s golf team with a two-day total of 145 (+1) at the sixth annual Lady Highlander Invitational.
Caron, a native of Bolt, W.Va., shot a 72 in Monday?s first round to put herself into contention for tournament medalist honors and followed that up with a solid 73 Tuesday finish tied for fifth overall. Winthrop?s Elin Granstrand won the individual title with a 142 (-2).
Longwood University won the 14-team event with an overall score of 586. Longwood had three golfers finish tied for eighth at two-over par. Elon finished second at 590, followed by Campbell at 593. Marshall University finished 13th overall at 677.
Marshall?s Carling Dickey finished tied for 40th with a 157 (rounds of 78 and 79). Marshall?s other scores were: Jodie Switzer (82-87=169), and Kathy O?Neal (105-109=214).
The Thundering Herd women?s team will next compete in the Eastern Kentucky Fall Invitational on October 11th and 12th.
