BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Marshall University?s men?s golf team recorded a three-round total of 883 to finish 14th out of 16 teams at Indiana University?s Northern Intercollegiate this weekend.
The Thundering Herd was led by Derek Hurwitch, a freshman from Longmeadow, Mass., who shot rounds of 73, 71, and 73 to finish the tournament tied for 28th place with a four-over par 217. Huntington native Brad Tweel shot rounds of 73, 74, and 74 to finish with a 221 and a tie for 47th-place. Marshall?s other scores were: Ben Minyard (79-71-75) +11, Ryan Stewart (78-73-78) +16, and Drew Whitten (75-82-74) +18.
Illinois edged defending national champion Minnesota, 843-844 to capture the team title, while James Lepp of Illinois took medalist honors with a three-round total of 202 (-11). Penn State?s Jim Fuller placed second with an eight-under-par 205.
