Byron Carmichael Selected in Sixth Round of MLS SuperDraft

Kansas City, Mo.-Marshall University men?s soccer forward Byron Carmichael was selected in the sixth round of the Major League Soccer SuperDraft by the Kansas City Wizards this past weekend. Carmichael was the 60th selection in the draft. The Wizards traded their 2004 6th round pick to the Los Angeles Galaxy in order to acquire Carmichael.
Carmichael recently finished his career as Marshall?s career leader in points (127) and goals scored (58). Both marks are career Mid-American Conference records as well. In addition, Carmichael was selected as MAC Player of the Year in 2000 and 2002 and was also a three-time All-MAC first team selection.
Carmichael joins former Marshall goaltender Taly Goode on the Wizards squad.
