BUFFALO, N.Y. - Michael McDonald (Luton, England) notched his third goal of the year to lead the Herd to a 1-0 win over the Buffalo Bulls on Sunday at RAC Field.

McDonald scored the goal at the 20 minute mark on a shot from 35 yards out. His goal was unassisted.

The win gave the Herd (4-9-0, 1-3-0 MAC) their first MAC victory and was their third win in the last four games. The win dropped the Bulls to 1-9-3 and 0-4-0 in the MAC.

"This is a big win for us," Marshall head coach Bob Gray said, "it's our second straight shutout win and it looks like things we are on the upswing. Our offense is playing a lot better, we had lots of chances today and dominated the game."

Chris McKinney (Princeton, WV) earned his second straight shutout after not allowing a goal to Cleveland State on Thursday night. The defense also played well to preserve the shutout.

Buffalo outshot Marshall, 18-17 for the game. Jeremy Ashe (Cinnaminson, NJ) led the team with five shots.

Gray was very happy with the way the team has been playing as of late. "I am extremely proud of the guys, they handled this stretch of five games in ten days very well. It will be good to get some rest before we head to VMI next weekend."

The Herd heads to VMI on Saturday, October 18 before returning home for a three game stretch. They will face Alderson-Broaddus on Tuesday, October 21, Bowling Green on the 24th and Kentucky on the 26th. Admission is free to all home games.
