Men's Soccer Hosts Alderson-Broaddus Tuesday

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - The Marshall University men's soccer team returns home to face the Alderson-Broaddus Battlers Tuesday night at Sam Hood Field at 7 p.m.

The Herd is coming off of a 2-0 loss Saturday at VMI. The team played a strong game and tallied ten shots, but were unable to take advantage of those chances and score a goal.

The loss on Saturday dropped the Herd to a record of 4-10-0. Marshall is currently fifth in the MAC and would face Bowling Green is the tournament started today.

The Battlers come into the game with a record of 5-8-1. They won their last outing on Saturday against Ohio Valley, 6-0. The leading scorer for the Battlers is Hans Schubert. He has six goals and one assist.

This is the first time the two schools will meet since 1987. The teams have only met twice in their history, in 1979 and 1987 with Marshall losing both matches.

Tuesday's game is the beginning of the final homestand of the year for the Herd. They will face Bowling Green on Friday and Kentucky on Sunday. Both games are part of doubleheaders with the women's team. Admission to all home games are free and can also be heard on WMUL.
