LYNCHBURG, Va. - Brentley Kellum scored the only goal of the game to lead Liberty past Marshall, 1-0 Tuesday night in a non-conference match for the men's soccer team.

Kellum scored at the 77 minute mark of the game to give Liberty the win. He scored off of his own blocked shot on a free kick. Liberty outshot Marshall 12-6 for the game. Marshall goalie Chris McKinney (Princeton, WV) made five saves on six shots.

"We played very well defensively tonight, Graham Prather (Richmond, VA) and Michael Bourassa (Victoria, Canada) played outstanding games for us," Marshall Coach Bob Gray said, "we just need to get more chances on the offensive end."

The Herd heads back on the road to play at Cleveland State on Thursday night. Coach Gray hopes for a better result. "We hope to play better at CSU. We will have some of our starters back and should be able to generate more chances."

The next home game for the team will be on October 21 against Alderson-Broaddus at Sam Hood Field. Admission is free.
