GAME NOTES
Woods Back
Goalkeeper Ashleigh Woods has been sidelined for three weeks with a broken finger. The junior, who leads the Mid-American Conference in saves per game, will likely take over for redshirt freshman Kai Nordness, who sits at tenth in shutouts and sixth in saves per game.
The Streak is Broken
Sophomore Jen Short (Mentor, Ohio) knocked in her first goal of the season against Buffalo last Friday. The goal broke the Herd?s home scoreless streak this season.
Around the MAC
Kent State leads all schools with an undefeated conference record (7-0) and sits at 10-1-1 on the season.
Buffalo?s Emily Russell, who managed a hat trick on the Herd this past weekend, leads the conference in both goals and points.
The Opponents
Eastern Michigan enters the weekend second in the MAC. The Eagles, 5-5-3 (4-0-2 MAC), fell to IUPUI last Friday 1-0, but took down MAC foe Central Michigan 1-0 on Sunday. The match with IUPUI set a school record with their fifth overtime game of the season.
The Eagles are led by Cyndi Mullins, who has five goals and an assist on the year.
The all-time series sits in favor of EMU at 3-0-2. The last meeting was a Marshall double overtime loss 2-3.
Central Michigan, 5-4-2 (3-3-1 MAC), are fresh off a 1-1 weekend. The Chippewas took down Missouri Valley Conference opponent Illinois State before losing against Eastern Michigan on Sunday.
Central Michigan, also an overtime savvy squad, has also faced five overtime games this season, tying a school record. Central has not lost an overtime game since 2001.
The Chippewas are led by freshman Anne Decker, who has three shutouts in her first seven starts in front of the net.
Marshall trails in the all-time series 1-4, but the Herd did win the last meeting 3-1.
