2/6/2003
HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- The Marshall University women?s soccer team recently added Heather Haney and Kelly McAlear to the team?s list of signees for the upcoming season. The pair will join the Marshall squad in the fall of 2003.
?We?re excited to welcome Kelly and Heather into the Marshall family,? head coach Chris Kane said. ?We are all ready to get things started and are anxious to see how Heather and Kelly fit into the mix.?
Haney, a native of Hilliard, Ohio, is a strong forward who looks to work into Marshall?s mix well. She was a key member of the Columbus Cosa Express squad that won the 2000 and 2002 Ohio South State Cup Championship. Haney is currently a senior at Hilliard Davidson High School.
McAlear comes to the Marshall family after a standout career at Bob Jones High School in Madison, Ala. The midfielder played on the Lady Kicks squad the won the Alabama State Cup Championship in 2001. She is also a member of Alabama?s State Olympic Developmental Team.
The Herd will be looking to improve on last year?s mark of 6-9-2 overall and 3-7-2 in the Mid-American Conference.
