Men's Soccer to Open 2003 Spring Season

3/27/2003

Huntington, W.Va.-The Marshall University men?s soccer team will open their 2003 spring season at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 28, when they host the University of Rio Grande. The game marks the start of the 2003 spring exhibition schedule. Admission to the match is free.

Marshall finished the 2002 season with a record of 7-9-2 and advanced to the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament before falling to the University of Akron in a penalty kick shootout.

The spring season serves as an opportunity for players returning for the 2003 season to gain in-game experience. After losing eight seniors from last year?s squad, the spring season will take on added importance for the Thundering Herd underclassmen.

Marshall will continue their spring season at the Mountain State Invitational in Bluefield, W.Va., when they will take on American University and Radford University on April 5, 2003.
