Men's Golf Finishes 14th at Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Marshall's men's golf team finished 14th at the University of Kentucky's Johnny Owens Invitational.

Marshall shot rounds of 317, 318, and 317 to finish at 952 and in 14th out of 15 participating teams. Marshall's top finisher was Hurricane, W.Va., native Drew Whitten who finished tied for 35th overall at 235 through three rounds.

The host University of Kentucky men's golf team finished in third place, after a frigid final round at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington. Vanderbilt finished seven strokes ahead of UK to take the team title, while Indiana finished second. Eastern Kentucky and Arkansas-Little Rock rounded out the top five.

Indiana's Heath Peters walked away with individual honors after shooting a four-over 220 for the tournament. Brett Jones (Louisville), Jeff Overton (Indiana) and Miles Maillet (Xavier) rounded out the top-five individuals.

Marshall next plays at the Marshall Invitational in Guyan Golf and Country Club. Play begins on Friday, April 4.
