Women's Tennis Looks to Extend Winning Streak against Cincinnati

Huntington, W.Va.-Riding a two match winning streak, the Marshall University women?s tennis team will look to extend it to three when they host the University of Cincinnati Bearcats at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, at the Henderson Center Tennis Courts. Marshall enters with a record of 4-5 overall while the Bearcats are also riding a two match win streak and enter the contest with a 5-4 record.

The Thundering Herd are led by the doubles tandem of Alice Sukner and Jessica Johnson who are currently ranked 13th in the country by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. In addition to her national ranking, Sukner was recently named as Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week.

Cincinnati comes to Marshall after victories over Saint Louis University and the University of Southern Mississippi and are currently in the middle of a nine-game road swing.

After the match with the Bearcats, the Thundering Herd will head to Texas for two non-conference matches. Marshall will face the University of Texas-Arlington on March 20, 2003, and will then travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to face Texas Christian University on March 22, 2003.
