Volleyball Inks One In The Late Signing Period

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.?Marshall volleyball coach Mitch Jacobs announced the signing of Jen Harper, a 5?11 outside hitter from Hilliard Darby High School in Columbus, Ohio, to a National Letter of Intent. Harper is eligible to compete for the Thundering Herd in the fall of 2003.
?Jen is a very athletic, strong player,? said Jacobs. ?She could give us some quality minutes at outside hitter this fall because of her ability to really hit the ball. I think I saw only four or five girls all season that could strike the ball like her.?
Harper was named a first team all-district and conference selection in 2001 and 2002, and led her team in kills, digs, and service aces in both seasons. In 2002, she was named the MVP at Hilliard Darby. She has also played club volleyball in the Columbus area for four years, including stints with the North Columbus Volleyball Club?s 16, 17, and 18 Gold Elite Teams.
?I?m real excited to be coming to Marshall,? said Harper. ?Coach Jacobs is a good coach and he is really starting to build a program there.?
