HAMILTON, Ohio - Marshall University, participating in its first ever Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championships, finished in eighth place with a three-day total of 1016.

Marshall's freshman laden squad managed to finish ahead of Northern Illinois who recorded a three round total of 1056 to finish ninth.

Kent State dominated the rest of the field with an impressive 888 that put the Flashes a full 37 strokes ahead of second place finisher Eastern Michigan. The Flashes took the top four individual spots in the tournament with Veronique Drouin taking overall medalist honors at 219.

Marshall was led by freshman Sheena Caron who finished tied for 22nd after shooting rounds of 77, 86, and 78 to post a score of 241 on the par 72 course at Walden Ponds.

Caron, a native of Bolt, W.Va., finished the season as the Thundering Herd's top performer and one of the most consistent freshmen in the MAC, giving Marshall a solid foundation to build on in coming years.
