MORGANTOWN, WV---The Marshall University Women?s Soccer team made an impressive debut Wednesday against pre-season nationally ranked WVU, dropping a 1-0 exhibition game to the Mountaineers.

?I was very happy with our performance,? Head coach Chris Kane said. ?We matched their intensity the whole game.?

A tenacious Herd defense held the Mountaineers scoreless through the first half.

?It is certainly a step in the right direction for us,? Kane said. ?I think our team gained a lot of confidence.?

Marshall will play their first home game of the season against Dayton Soccer Academy Premier on Sunday, August 24 at 1 p.m.
The exhibition game will be the final tune-up for the Herd before they make a trip to Purdue University for the Boilermaker Challenge Cup.
