KENT, OH-- A late drive by the Marshall Women's Soccer team fell short Friday evening as they dropped their first MAC game to Kent State 1-0.

Kent forward Lauren Convay scored a goal within the first five minutes only score of the match.

"We need to come out and play for 90 minutes," Head coach Chris Kane. "I am happy with the effort but we need to start making the most of opportunities given to us."

Marshall junior goalkeeper Ashleigh Woods led all goalies with three saves.

"It is early in the MAC...we're ready to come back and fight on Sunday," Kane said.

Marshall will get that opportunity on Sunday when they take on the Zips of Akron at home.

The game will kickoff at 1 p.m. at Sam Hood Field and is free to the public.

The game will also be broadcast on WMUL and can be seen via the world wide web at www.marshall.edu/wmul.
