Marshall Golf Finishes 11th At Adams Cup Of Newport

NEWPORT, R.I.-The Marshall men's golf team finished in 11th place at the Adams Cup of Newport, an event hosted by the University of Rhode Island. The University of Minnesota took home first place honors with a total team score of four (-4) under par 860, 24 strokes better than second place Michigan State.
Junior Brad Tweel (Huntington, W.Va.) led Marshall with a three-round score of 229, good for a tie for 37th place. Senior Ben Minyard (Avondale, Ariz.) was next with a 231 (T-45th), with Burke Spensky (Huntington, W.Va.) next with a 231 (T-45th).
Freshman Shawn Warren (Windham, Maine) carded the Herd's low round of the tournament today in the final round, when he shot a 70. He finished tied for 48th with a total of 232. Drew Whitten (Hurricane, W.Va.) rounded out the Herd contingent with a score of 243 (T-62nd).
As a team, Marshall scored a 917.
The Marshall men's golf team is back in action on October 13th and 14th at the Xavier Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio.
