Men's Soccer Names Paul Meehan Assistant Coach

9/4/2003

HUNTINGTON, WV - Marshall men's soccer head coach Bob Gray announced that Paul Meehan will be the assistant coach of the Thundering Herd soccer team.

"I am looking forward to the opportunity to coach a very talented team," Meehan said, "I think I can help make this team better and achieve our goals."

Meehan has a lengthy background in soccer. He started his coaching career at Bellevue High School where he coached from 1986-1995. During that time period, he also was the head coach at Bellevue Community College.

In August of 1997, he was the assistant coach at Marshall University and held that position until 1998, when he took the same position with Fresno State University. In 2001, he began coaching at Lake Washington High School in Kirkland, WA and held that position until 2003.

The team has their sights set on a MAC Champoinship, and Coach Meehan feels the same way, "I think that a MAC Championship is a realistic goal and would make for a very successful season."

The Thundering Herd plays on Friday, September 4 against High Point at Sam Hood Field at 7:00 p.m.
