MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The Thundering Herd men's soccer team lost to the Robert Morris Colonials on Sunday, 2-1.
Salvador Djeukeng scored the lone goal for the Herd in the 77th minute. He headed in the shot which was sent from Michael Bourassa, who was awarded the assist.
The Colonials took the lead in the 23rd minute on a goal scored by Said Ali. They took a 1-0 lead into the half, and scored their second goal in the 80th minute, less than four minutes after the Herd managed to tie it up.
The loss was a tough way for the Herd to begin their five game road trip. Head coach Bob Gray was disappointed with the result, but looks forward to the rest of the road trip. "We did not show up for the first half, but our effort was a lot better in the second half. I felt that we had better opportunities than they did, but things just did not go our way."
Marshall continues their road trip on Friday when they begin play in the Birmingham Southern tournament. The next home game for the Herd will take place on September, 26 when they face Western Michigan.
