Men's Soccer to Host Northern Illinois

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - The Thundering Herd men's soccer team returns home on Sunday for the home Mid-American Conference opener against Northern Illinois on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Sam Hood Field.

Marshall (4-4-1, 1-1 MAC) tied the Pittsburgh Panthers on Wednesday. Jarod Dombrowski (Pickerington, OH), Jeremy Ashe (Cinnaminson, NJ) and Mike Barbera (Huntington, WV) each recorded their first goals of the season in Wednesday's 3-3 tie.

Last weekend, the Herd opened up MAC play, beginning with a 2-1 loss at Kentucky on Friday and a 5-2 win at Bowling Green on Sunday.

The Huskies enter the game with a 7-3 record and beat Western Michigan last weekend by a 2-1 score in their conference opener. Northern Illinois has won six games in a row including a 1-0 win against Wisconsin on Wednesday.

In their 2003 meeting, NIU topped Marshall by a 3-1 score in Dekalb. Marshall leads the series against the Huskies, 5-4. The home team has won every game in the series.

After Sunday's game, the Herd will play host to the Akron Zips on Friday night before traveling to Western Michigan next Sunday.
