HUNTINGTON, W.Va. ? The Marshall University women?s soccer team will conclude the home portion of its schedule this weekend when it takes on Eastern Michigan on Friday and Central Michigan on Sunday at Sam Hood Field in Mid-American Conference action.

Marshall (3-8-3, 0-7-1 MAC) finds itself in a must-win situation heading into this weekend?s play. The Herd will need to win out in order to have any shot at making the conference tournament. MU has dropped four straight after picking up a win on Sept. 24 at Maryland-Baltimore County. Three of the four losses have been by one goal. The Herd is coming off a 3-0 loss last Friday to a hot Ohio squad in Huntington. The shut-out was the eighth consecutive for the Bobcats.

Eastern Michigan (8-2-4, 4-2-2 MAC) will bring a three-game unbeaten streak to Sam Hood Field on Friday. The Eagles currently sit at second in the league standings and rank first as a team in total points (78) and goals (27). The Eagles are led by Jessica Hupe, who currently paces the MAC in goals (10) and points (25). Cyndi Mullins is the main assist threat, notching a league-leading .58 per game. The meeting is the sixth of the two programs, with the Herd trailing 0-4-2.

Sunday?s contest will pin the Herd against the MAC?s top shooting team in Central Michigan. CMU (7-4-2, 5-1-2 MAC) averages 17.31 shots per game. Jacquie Lacek (57) and Alison Heydorn (50) account for nearly fifty percent of the shot production. The Chippewas bring a strong defensive front also, as the team has put up six shut-outs in 2004. CMU leads the all-time series 5-2.

Kickoff for Friday?s game against the Eagles is slated for 3:30 p.m. The Herd will battle CMU on Sunday at noon and will be part of a doubleheader with the men?s squad. The Marshall men?s soccer team will battle Longwood following the conclusion of the women?s game. Sunday?s tilt will also be Senior Day for the Herd?s three seniors?Ellerie Karl (Oakwood, Ohio), Ashleigh Woods (Penfield, N.Y.) and Jessica Crawford (Amelia, Ohio).
