Ashe Named MAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week

10/4/2004

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced that Marshall forward Jeremy Ashe (Cinnaminson, NJ) has been named Player of the Week.

Ashe had a stellar week for the Herd. In Wednesday's game at Pittsburgh, with Marshall down 3-1 and less than five minutes left, Ashe scored to begin Marshall's comeback, which would later end in a 3-3 tie.

In Sunday's conference game against Northern Illinois, Ashe scored what would prove to be the game winning goal. Two of his three shots for the week found the back of the net.

"It is a great honor to have Jeremy named player of the week," Coach Bob Gray said. "He has been working extremely hard and it has been showing in his performance on the field."

Ashe and the rest of the Herd will look to improve its conference record with a big weekend of action, starting when the Akron Zips come to town at 5 p.m. on Friday night at Sam Hood Field. It will be the first game of a doubleheader with the women's team. Following Friday's game, Marshall will travel to Kalamazoo, Michigan to take on the defending MAC champion Western Michigan Broncos on Sunday.
