Men?s Golf Signs Two To National Letters Of Intent

11/17/2004

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Head men?s golf Joe Feaganes signed two golfers to NCAA National Letter of Intents Thursday. Nathan Kinker of Barboursville, W.Va., and Phil DiLorenzo, of Wellsburg, W.Va., each signed to compete for the Thundering Herd in the fall of 2005.

Kinker, the son of Sam and Anna Kinker and a senior at Cabell Midland High School, was an all-state member last season when he tied for fourth at the West Virginia High School Tournament. Posting a 71.2 high school stroke average, he has won the Huntington High School Invitational three times and claimed medalist honors at the Mountain State Conference Tournament twice. He has also done well outside of high school play, placing fifth at the West Virginia Amateur in 2003 and sixth in 2004, eighth at the Scott Robertson Junior in Roanoke, Va., while also being named a member of the WVGA Junior Cup Team. In 2002, he was the West Virginia Junior Amateur Champion. On the American Junior Golf Association circuit, he was the runner-up at the AJGA Bluegrass Junior and 13th at the AJGA ClubCorp Junior. He is also the Junior Club Champion at Guyan Country Club.

DiLorenzo, the son of Bob and Janet DiLorenzo and a senior at Brooke High School, is also an all-state member at the Triple-A level. He placed in a tie for fourth at the 2004 West Virginia High School Tournament and posted a 37.5 high school stroke average. His high school match record his senior year was 21-1-3. He finished 6th in the 2003 West Virginia Amateur, and was the 2003 West Virginia Junior Amateur Champion for the 15-16 year-old age group, which was good for fourth overall. Like Kinker, he was also a member of the WVGA Junior Cup Team.

?We are extremely happy to have signed two fine recruits from West Virginia,? said Feaganes. ?Nathan and Phil are not only good players, but they are both quality young men. They will have an immediate impact on our golf program.?
