LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Marshall University tennis team wrapped up an undefeated weekend as they rolled to a 7-0 victory over the University of Louisville. With their second consecutive win, Marshall improves to 2-2 on the year.

?Louisville played a high energy match?, head coach John Mercer said. ?The energy their crowd created was a good experience for our team? our players were able to stay focused and respond well to the situation.?

Marshall (2-2) opened the match by sweeping their doubles matches and claiming the doubles point. No. 14 ranked Senior Jessica Johnson (Sewicly, Pa.) and junior Ashley Kroh (Louisville, Ky.), cruised to an 8-3 victory in the No.1 position over Kelly Taylor and Natalie Laszkowski. A victory by senior Alice Sukner (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Lille Nzudie (Douala, Cameroon) over Michele Spiess and Julia Hierl in the number two position secured the doubles point for Herd.

Senior Meghan Skalsky (East Lansing, Mich.) and junior Danielle Hock (Wiggin, England) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win in the No. 3 position over Christina Gogol and Paige Eber.

After completing the doubles sweep, Marshall won all six doubles matches. In the number one position, No. 62 Johnson defeated Speiss 6-1, 7-5 as Sukner defeated Gogol 6-3, 6-1 in the number two position. Nzudie also struck for Marshall with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Hierl.

Marshall won three hard fought matches that went three sets in the No.3, 5 and 6 positions. These victories included Kroh in the number three position, junior Joelle Good (Zurich, Switzerland) in the number five position and Hock in the number six postion.

Marshall will return to action next weekend when they travel to State College, Pa., where they will take on Penn State University at 4 p.m. on Friday the 15th, and Princeton University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
