Tennis Hosts Richmond and Eastern Michigan

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University women?s tennis team will face the University of Richmond, Friday at 2:00 p.m. and Mid-American Conference opponent, Eastern Michigan, Sunday at 1:30 p.m., at the Marshall University Tennis Courts.

Marshall (9-3,1-0) is currently ranked 56th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, and showcases the number thirteen doubles pairing in the nation with senior Jessica Johnson (Sewickly, Pa.) and junior Ashley Kroh (Louisville, Ky.) The duo is currently on an eleven match win streak. The Herd is coming of a 6-1 victory over 65th ranked UC Irvine.

Richmond (5-5, 0-0 Atlantic Ten) comes into the match with its latest win over Barry University, 5-2. Eastern Michigan (6-3, 1-0 MAC) is currently on a five match win steak. The Eagles will face off against Butler and Richmond before taking on the Herd Sunday. In conference action EMU recently defeated Miami 4-3. Last season Marshall captured its second consecutive Mid-American Conference Tournament championship with a 4-2 victory over Eastern Michigan University, giving the Thundering Herd a berth into the NCAA Tournament.
