Wilson Picks up Player of the Week Nod
3/23/2004
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- For the third consecutive week, Marshall has racked up a weekly Mid-American Conference honor as senior outfielder Sarah Wilson (Washington, W.Va.) was named MAC East Player of the Week, according the league office on Monday.
Wilson came up big for Marshall at UNC-Chapel Hill on Wednesday when she registered two of the four hits allowed by the Tar Heel pitching staff on the day. Her double was Marshall's lone multi-base hit of the day.
The left fielder picked up right where she left off at the Hokie Classic this past weekend, going 7-for-14 in the five-game affair and knocking two balls out of the park, including the one that clinched the win over East Tennessee State on Friday. Wilson also registered five runs, seven RBIs and a stolen base for the tourney en route to her first career player of the week nod.
