Marshall Set to Face Toledo in Quarterfinal of MAC Tournament

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - After winning the Mid-American Conference regular season title, the Marshall University women?s tennis team will look to take their first step towards the 2004 MAC Tournament crown competing in the quarterfinal match against the number eight seed, University of Toledo, Friday, April 23, at 10:00 a.m.

The Thundering Herd after clinching the regular season and a first round tournament bye, enter with a 9-0 conference record and the number one seed. Marshall is currently ranked 53rd in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, and the doubles tandem of senior Jessica Johnson (Sewickly, Pa.) and junior Ashley Kroh (Louisville, Ky.) are ranked 16th in the nation.

Earlier in the season Marshall swept the Rockets 7-0. The last time the two schools met in tournament play was in the 2003 quarterfinals, where MU topped Toledo 4-0.
