First Energy Intercollegiate Next Up For Men's Golf

AKRON, Ohio - The Thundering Herd men's golf team travels to the Firestone Country Club's North Course for this weekend's First Energy Intercollegiate. The event is hosted by the University of Akron.

Seventeen teams will take part in the tournament, which begins Saturday morning at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. Thirty-six holes will be played on Saturday, with the final 18 settled on Sunday.

The North Course will be set up as a 7,060-yard, par-72 layout.

Kent State won the 2003 First Energy Collegiate, while Toledo's Brad Heaven defeated Kent State's Peter Laws in a playoff to win medalist honors. Heaven and Laws both shot a 210.

Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, Kent State, Marquette, Marshall, Miami (OH), Northern Illinois, Ohio, Penn State, Toledo, Western Kentucky, Wright State, and Xavier will all compete for the tournament crown this weekend.
