Volleyball Adds Another Tall Hitter in Trinidad's Ross
6/14/2004
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. ? Marshall University head volleyball coach Mitch Jacobs announced today that Jalicia Ross of Bank Village, Trinidad, signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Thundering Herd for the 2004 season.
Ross, a 6-foot-3 middle/outside hitter, is Jacobs? second incoming freshman from Trinidad, joining 2002 Trinidad and Tobago Volleyball Federation National League Player of the Year Kelly-Anne Billingy on the Marshall campus this fall.
?At 6-3, she (Ross) is quite long and her athletic ability, coupled with Kelly-Anne?s, will give us options that you don?t see often at mid-majors,? Jacobs said. ?They both can play way above the net.?
Ross was a former national team high jumper in Trinidad before making the transition to volleyball, where she is now training with the Trinidad and Tobago national squad.
