Men's Golf Ends Xavier Invitational In 18th Place

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Marshall men's golf team finished the Xavier Invitational in 18th place at the Oasis Golf Club in Cincinnati with a score of 910 (310-296-304). Junior Shawn Warren (Windham, Maine) was the Herd's top finisher, ending the tournament in a tie for 55th place with a score of 224 (77-72-75).
Austin Peay defeated the host Musketeers in a playoff to take home the team title with a total of 21-under par, 843. Louisville finished in third with an 844.
Individually, Xavier's John Streibich took medalist honors with a 14-under par, 202. Yoshio Yamamoto of Austin Peay finished second with a 204.
Other finishers for Marshall were Jonathan Pepe (McKeesport, Pa.) with a 225 (76-74-75, T-60), Nathan Kinker (Barboursville, W.Va.) with a 230 (78-73-79, T-78), Matt Scytkowski (South Hadley, Mass.) with a 231 (79-77-75, T-82), and Jeremy Graham (Danville, Pa.) with a 246 (79-83-84, T-97).
The Xavier Invitational marked the end of the Herd's fall season. Marshall returns to the course at the Road Runner Invitational in San Antonio, Texas, on February 20-21.
