MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Marshall junior golfer Shawn Warren shot a two-under par, 214 (73-70-71), to finish in a tie for third place at the Memphis Intercollegiate at the Colonial Country Club South Course. The third place finish is a career best for Warren. As a team, the Thundering Herd finished in 13th place out of 15 teams with a score of 906.

Warren tied Kyle Ritchie of Tulane and Tim Schaetzel of Mississippi State for third place after he fired a one-under, 71, to complete the 54-hole event. Only two golfers, Justin Elliott of Southern Miss and Kevin Fortin-Simard of Memphis finished in front of Warren - Elliott ended in second place with a 212, while Fortin-Simard captured medalist honors with a 208.

As a team, Marshall fired a 298 in the final round of play. Other Marshall finishers were Trent Schambach (Glen Dale, W.Va.) and Matt Scytkowski (South Hadley, Mass.) who both finished in a tie for 54th with a 231 (Schambach - 74-80-77, Scytkowski - 77-79-75). Jonathan Pepe (McKeesport, Pa.) carded a 232 (75-82-75, T-59) and Chris Tipper (Parkersburg, W.Va.) posted a 234 (76-81-77, T-64). Nathan Kinker (Barboursville, W.Va.) played as an individual and scored a 235 (82-79-74, T-67).

The Herd finishes its fall season next Monday and Tuesday at the Xavier Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio.
