Men's Golf Heads To Furman Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Marshall men's golf team will participate in the 36th Annual Furman Intercollegiate Golf Tournament on March 25-27 at the 6,800 yard, par 72, Furman University Golf Course.
Teams in this year's field include Applachian State, Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, Davidson, Elon, Francis Marion, Marshall, Michigan, UNC Charlotte, UNC Greensboro, Rhode Island, USC-Aiken, Tennessee-Chattanooga, Toledo, Virginia Tech, Western Carolina, Winthrop, Wofford, and the host Purple Paladins.
Furman won last year's event with a team score of 883. Prior to the Purple Paladins' win, Virginia Tech had one three consecutive Furman Intercollegiates (2001-03).
Sophomore golfer Shawn Warren (Windham, Maine) leads the Herd in 2004-05, averaging 74.21 strokes per round. Freshman Chris Tipper (Parkersburg, W.Va.) is next for Marshall, averaging 74.64 shots per 18 holes.
