CLEVELAND -- For the second time this season, Marshall centerfielder Amanda Willliams has been named Mid-American Conference East Softball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Williams, a junior, went 7-for-15 (.467) for the Herd in the leadoff slot to lead MU to a pair of victories this week. Williams smacked three doubles in five games, scored two runs and posted an RBI. She went 2-for-3 in a 2-0 loss to Kentucky to begin the week and put together a 2-for-3 performance in game one of the Buffalo series as well. With a double against Buffalo in game one of the series, the Powder Springs, Ga., native, continued her ascent on the Marshall record books, becoming number one all-time in career doubles with 39.

Williams is batting .407 on the year with 37 hits, ten doubles and 16 RBI.

The announcement marks the second consecutive week a Marshall player has been named Player of the Week. Rachel Folden (Baldwin Park, Calif.) garnered similar honors last week.

?This is certainly a nice honor for Amanda,? head coach Shonda Stanton said. ?She has been a consistent player for us all year long.?

Marshall battles Eastern Kentucky tomorrow at Dot Hicks Field.
