Herd Volleyball Heads to St. Louis for Tournament

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Thundering Herd volleyball team heads west to the Show-Me State this weekend for a tournament hosted by St. Louis University.
The Herd will play in four matches on Saturday at SLU. The action for Marshall gets underway with a 10 a.m. start against Jefferson Community College followed by an 11 a.m. matchup with the Hoosiers of Indiana University. In the afternoon, the Herd plays at 1 p.m. against Truman State and at 3 p.m. versus Southern Illinois-Carbondale.
The St. Louis University 2005 Spring Tournament also features SLU, Denver, Evansville, Birmingham Southern, Memphis, Bradley and Miami (Ohio) along with Marshall and its opponents.
The trip to St. Louis marks a homecoming for senior Nickie Sanlin (Fairview Heights, Ill.). Sanlin grew up 15 minutes from St. Louis and is looking forward to playing close to home for the first time in a Marshall uniform.
"It should be great," Sanlin said. "I'm really excited to go home so my whole family and all my friends can see me play. This is my neighborhood so it's nice to show the team where I'm from and hopefully it'll be a good weekend on and off the court."
