Herd Volleyball's Caribbean Tour Comes to a Close
6/11/2005
This is the final diary entry for the Thundering Herd Volleyball team's ten-day Caribbean Island tour that featured stops in Barbados and Trinidad.
After a night out at the hopping club Zen, everybody slept in to rest up for our last match here on the island. We were all up at 10:30 A.M. to enjoy a couple of hours at the Valley View water park. Even though we all had tons of fun on the water slides, a few people were left with a couple of bumps and bruises. But hey, it is just a small price we had to pay to the water slide gods.
Today we had the most glorious weather of the trip so after a couple runs on the water slides several of us decided to capitalize on the weather and laid-out by the pool while others caught up on their Zzz?s.
By 1:30 P.M., we all reunited for lunch and we all laughed at the site of what we were about to eat because it was exactly the same thing we had the night before at Jalicia?s house. However, this did not stop us from digging right into the food. After lunch, we all went back to our rooms to rest for our match. We all met down at the lobby expecting to have the time for a team meeting but to our surprise our bus driver was on time so we quickly discussed our game strategy. Then, we left for our match.
On our way to the gym we stopped at a lookout point to take our final pictures. The view was breathtaking! We finally made it to the gym and prepared ourselves for the game. Sara, our trainer, was messing around and peppering with one of the referees, and while they were playing he asked her if she was a former college volleyball player. Sara tired to convince the man that she only played in high school but the man was not easily convinced. The match began, and we came out with good, high energy. Throughout our play, we did hit a few road blocks here and there, but still came out with the victory. Our last night in Trinidad was a blast.
