Marshall Men's Soccer Drops 2-0 Exhibition at Cincinnati

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall men's soccer team fell 2-0 at Cincinnati Sunday in exhibition action at Gettler Stadium.
The Bearcats jumped out quickly, scoring in the eighth minute when Omar Cummings squeaked through the Marshall defense and beat goalkeeper Greg Terhune (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) with a shot to the lower left corner of the goal.
Cummings struck again in the second period, tallying an unassisted goal at the 58:33 mark to push the Bearcats' lead to 2-0. The teams played three 30-minute periods in the exhibition.
Marshall took 10 shots, including five on goal, but came up empty against the Bearcats' goalkeeping duo of Mike Vessells and John-Michael Boggs. Karim Boukhemis (Huntington, W.Va.) and John Daniele (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles) each took two shots for the Herd. Cincinnati racked up 20 shots and put seven on goal.
The Thundering Herd returns to exhibition action at 2 p.m. Sunday vs. Long Island in Beckley, W.Va. Marshall opens the regular season Sept. 1 vs. Temple at the Mountaineer Classic in Morgantown, W.Va.
