Herd Volleyball Set for Match at Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, Pa. - The Marshall Thundering Herd volleyball team will look to continue its five-match winning streak when it plays at the University of Pittsburgh Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

Marshall is coming in after taking the Friends of Coal Blue-Green Classic title over the weekend to improve it record to 5-2 on the season. The Herd will also go for its third win over a Big East opponent this season when it plays Pitt after wins against Rutgers and West Virginia.

On the other side of the net, Pitt comes into the match with a 6-4 record and is led by Diana Andreyko with 164 kills (4.69/game).

The Thundering Herd is led by Stephanie Cahill with 79 kills (3.95/game). Cahill was the Blue-Green Classic tournament MVP and is hitting .290 on the year with 14 service aces. Marshall's Kelly-Anne Billingy is also averaging 6.0 kills a game with a .394 hitting percentage. Senior setter Katie Stein is averaging 15 assists per game and has 14 service aces on the year.

The Herd and Panthers share common opponents on the season with both teams losing to the Maryland Terrapins and Miami RedHawks. The Terps downed Pitt 3-0 and downed Marshall 3-1. The RedHawks knocked off both schools 3-0.

Marshall is 0-3 all-time against Pittsburgh.

The Herd will battle the Panthers at 7 p.m. from Fitzgerald Field House Wednesday night and stay in Pennsylvania as it heads to Happy Valley for a tournament hosted by Penn State this weekend.
