TULSA, Okla. - Despite a late rally to cut the Tulsa Golden Hurricane lead to one, the Marshall University Thundering Herd women's soccer team fell 2-1 on Sunday at Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.

Marshall and Tulsa battled during the first half, keeping the match scoreless for 43 minutes. Tulsa's Katie Ward notched the fist goal of the match when she knocked the ball past goalkeeper Liz Orton off of a pass from Megan Cash and Julia Andra at the 43:56 minute mark.

The Golden Hurricane led the Herd 1-0 at halftime. Tulsa out-shot Marshall 8-3, tallied two corner kicks to Marshall's one and Orton made four saves in the half. Tulsa keeper Meredith Hart made one save in the half.

Six minutes into the second half, Cash scored a goal of her own, putting Tulsa up 2-0.

Molly Snead put Marshall on the board in the 85th minute when she finished a cross from Kassie Hollman 12 yards from the goal mouth. Snead's goal is her third of the season and Hollman's fourth assist.

Marshall out-shot Tulsa 7-5 in the second half, but Tulsa held the advantage, 13-10, for the match. Orton and Rachel Huff split the time between the pipes in the second half. Orton left at the 61st minute mark and made fives saves on the day. Huff did not have to make any saves. Hart made two saves in the second half for a total of three.

The Herd wraps-up the regular season during Homecoming weekend. Marshall hosts Conference USA affiliate member Colorado College on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. and UTEP on Sunday, Oct. 29 at noon at Sam Hood Field.
