LOVELAND, Ohio - The Thundering Herd men's golf team finished the 18-team Xavier Invitational in 14th place with a team score of 876 (297-281-298). Freshman Christian Brand was Marshall's top finisher, ending the event in a tie for 18th with a 212 (71-67-74).
The host Musketeers captured the tournament with a tournament record 830 (276-284-270), while Xavier's Jason Kokrak won medalist honors with a 202 (65-69-68).
Other scores for Marshall were Shawn Warren (Windham, Maine), who shot a 218 (74-72-72, T-45), Trent Schambach (Glen Dale, W.Va.), who carded a 224 (79-71-74, T-68), Jonathan Pepe (McKeesport, Pa.), who shot a 225 (76-71-78, T-70), and Nathan Kinker (Barboursville, W.Va.), who fired a 233 (76-78-79, 92).
The tournament closes out fall competition for the Thundering Herd.
