HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Thundering Herd tennis team swings back into action Saturday at the Huntington Tennis Club when it plays host to the Pittsburgh Panthers and Morehead State Eagles.
The matches which were originally scheduled to start at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. have been moved up. The Marshall/Pitt match will start immediately following the Pittsburgh/Morehead match that begins at 9 a.m. The Herd will then play Morehead at the conclusion of the Pitt match.
The Herd enters the matches with a record of 4-1 after a pair of wins in its last doubleheader against Eastern Kentucky and Youngstown State. The Thundering Herd also climbed a spot to No. 64 in the latest ITA rankings.
Pitt comes into the weekend with a 1-0 record after starting the season with a 5-2 win over Big East rival Cincinnati. Morehead State is 0-2 after losses to Wright State and Western Kentucky.
"We're looking forward to the weekend," Marshall head coach John Mercer said. "We're excited to play a Big East team in Pittsburgh. They continue to improve and they have some very tough players at the top of the lineup. Morehead State is in transition with a new coach that is going to build a good program and have a good effect on the team. They're going to be excited and come in here and give us a everything they've got. I hope we come out and improve on what we've learned the last couple of weeks and put together a good performance."
Both matches will be played indoors at the Huntington Tennis Club in Barboursville.
