IRVING, Texas - Sophomore utility player and Conference USA Preseason Player of the Year Rachel Folden (Baldwin Park, Calif./Diamond Bar) has been named the C-USA Co-Hitter of the Week, as announced Monday by the conference office.

Last week, Folden went 7-for-12, batting .583 with five home runs and 10 RBI to lead the Herd to a 2-2 finish at the Atlanta Marriott Buzz Classic. Folden's five homers and 1.917 slugging percentage led the tournament field, while finishing second in batting average.

Folden hit a home run against both Georgia Tech and Connecticut on Friday. She later belted a school-record three home runs, while driving in six runs to lead the Thundering Herd (9-9) to an 8-0 run-rule victory over Austin Peay Saturday.

Through 18 games, Folden is batting .444 with a team-leading eight home runs and 23 RBI. She is one home run shy of her All-American season total from a year ago (nine). She also moved into second place on the school's all-time home run list with 17 round-trippers.

The Marshall Thundering Herd will make its home debut Wednesday with a 3 p.m. doubleheader against Akron at Dorothy Hicks Field.
