FORT WORTH, Texas - Marshall volleyball incoming freshman Kristin Marcum helped lead the West Texas All-Stars with two important kills in a game five victory over the East All-Stars in Wednesday night's event. The West won the match 25-19, 16-25, 25-21, 19-25, 19-17.
Marcum, who played for Arlington Lamar High School as an outside hitter, competed in the 4A-5A Texas All-Star Volleyball Game with other standouts from the state at TCU's Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
Herd volleyball head coach Mitch Jacobs said the newcomer's performance should give her some added poise in preparation for the start of the upcoming season.
"It is a great accomplishment in itself that Kristin was invited to play in this game," Jacobs said. "To have a strong impact in its outcome should be great for her confidence heading into preseason training camp."
Marcum finished the match with seven kills and was said to be one of the most consistent hitters for the West.
